Buffy Movie Rumors

Anyone that knows me knows that I have a long-standing love for all things Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Hell, if you want to get technical, my longest relationship is with Buffy. Even since the series ended after its seventh season in 2003 a canon Season Eight comic book has been released by Dark Horse, but fans have been hoping for a feature film since the cast reunited in March to celebrate Buffy's decade anniversary at the ArcLight Theater in Hollywood for the Paley Center for Media's 25th Annual Television Festival.

Arrow in the Head has reposted a report from the Australian Herald-Sun newspaper saying that Joss Whedon, creator of fan-favorite Buffy the Vampire Slayer, has written "a feature-film script based on his hit TV series ready to roll as soon as a studio is prepared to commit."

With the recent success of the movie adaptation of Stephanie Meyer's tween vampy Twilight book series, it's more likely a studio would pick up Whedon's script. So maybe Twilight is good for something after all... As for casting the Buffy film, Sarah Michelle Gellar has stated in interviews in the past that she'd return for a feature film depending on the script. But if the script's written by the creator himself it's likely Gellar would be in. Most if not all the other cast members, including How I Met Your Mother's Alyson Hannigan, would most likely be more than willing to return as well. Rumors are rumors, and there's no guarantee that anything will come of it. Just something to put on the radar for the upcoming year...
