I feel like I'm dreaming. There's a sour taste in my throat and my stomach is gurgling. Am I really about to pay a compliment to a JUKEBOX MUSICAL? I hate those stupid things! And I am enraged that producers are trying them again after the failure of the original artist-themed jukes. This time around trying the generational-themed jukes. But, what can I say? Rock of Ages, the hair band Jukebox Musical, has made the first move in lowering ticket prices due to the shitty economy. And I need to pay them their due. Producers of the shows on the Great White Way are being moronic, latching on to their 115+ dollar tickets to their shows, as production after production closes because people can't even afford the cheap seats.
In this Broadway World article on Rock of Ages making its move to Broadway, the producers announced:
"After such an exciting run off Broadway, we are delighted to be moving ROCK OF AGES to Broadway," says Matthew Weaver and Carl Levin, the producers of ROCK OF AGES. "We know these are difficult and uncertain times for everyone, so we are thrilled to announce that ROCK OF AGES will set a new precedent on Broadway with a top ticket price of $89.00 for weeknight performances and $99.00 for weekend performances."Well bravo to you, Rock of Ages. And instead of wishing for your immediate shuttering and failure, I will instead pray to the gods that you succeed. So you can help usher in an era of cheaper tickets on Broadway.
