Justin: Friendster's Back, All Right?

Excuse me while I grab some paper towels to mop up all the iced coffee that just forcibly flew from my nose and mouth and all over my keyboard and Mac screen. In case you haven't heard (and I'm sure most of us haven't)... FRIENDSTER IS COMING BACK?

Wow. Do you remember Friendster? I hardly do. It's like thinking past LiveJournal and trying to remember Xanga and Diaryland. It's like remembering your Angelfire or Geocities web site (mine was covered in photos of Gwen Stefani while I pretended to be straight, btw).

Anyway, here's Friendster with a new video set on grabbing all of you FaceSpacers and MyFaces and bringing you back to their digital fold. By how? By being original!

Except it ISN'T original. Are you looking at the same screen I am? It looks like a Facebook layout, with a Farmville ripoff, and a LOT of asians sitting around a Mac on a couch.

I don't see personalization I see me-too of the highest caliber. And I don't think that "hey! no one's here!" is really a good selling point.

Maybe I'm not seeing it... is Friendster poised for a comeback? Or should they just sell their URL to a porn company?

Oh... and epic fail to the tagline "Connecting Smiles"... WHAT!? ::headdesk::

Justin: Gaga Puppet-La

We all know I love me some Lady Gaga. Sure, I don't bother listening to her lyrics, but I don't find them important. What I like are the tunes and beats and how they make me shake my booty on the dance floor. And she delivers those in spades.

I also like really cool web videos that probably took some artsy folks a lot of time to create. So when I came across this music video version of Telephone featuring cut-out paper puppets, I knew I'd be very pleased.

And you know what? I am very, very pleased.

Special thanks to Homo-Neurotic for the heads-up on this viral genius. I wish it many millions of views and only the highest-profile of blog links.

Justin: iPhone? Droid? Help?

I do not like having to make choices. When I am presented with two options for anything, I often defer to whomever I am with. Chinese or pizza? Splash or Rush? Paper or plastic? Bank robbery or casino heist? Don't ask me, I'll be cool with either.

Needless to say, when I am FORCED to make a choice, it overwhelms me beyond description. And right now, I am being forced to make a choice. Okay, well, not RIGHT now. But soon. In March of 2010, my Verizon agreement is expiring. Until recently, I thought I had my plan set: I would abandon Verizon and pick up an iPhone.

That seemed easy enough. I wanted the apps. Man, it really is all about the apps. Over a hundred thousand of them.

But then I heard about the AT&T service woes. The 3G network is the pits. It takes hours to load anything on the browser. Boyfriend Joe drops one out of every two calls he takes or makes. AT&T has shitty service, and that made me reconsider.

And then Verizon released the Blackberry Storm... a supposed iPhone killer. Too bad it wasn't. And so I was back to deciding that I would sacrifice good service for an app phone.

But then Verizon came out with the Droid. I went to the Verizon store and took it for a spin. It seemed awesome! But then I heard about small amount of memory for apps. Substandard apps. An annoying browser. And now I am torn again.

Do I go to AT&T's shitty service to get an iPhone? Do I re-up with Verizon and get a Droid? Sure people say iPhone is coming to Verizon, but yesterday an article hinted that T-Mobile may in fact be the next carrier to get Apple's telephonic gem. WHYYYYYY?

If Verizon would just come out with a fucking iPhone, I would get it. Plain and simple. Of course life isn't easy and I must face such horrendous decisions.

Luckily I have until March to make up my mind, as that is when my contract expires. Maybe by then, Verizon will announce an iPhone. Maybe I'll be that lucky.

At least I hope so.

The Rachel Zoe Project Confronts the Recession

Sorry about the really somber, angsty first blog post. And now for something still related to the recession, but totally hilarious. My very own (Facebook) friend Beth Crosby, doing a PERFECT impression of Rachel Zoe.
