As of now, I have declared the first Monday of every month to be the day I get into the “Fun” side of “Fit + Fun” here on Justin + 6. Brace yourselves, this is just the beginning, but to kick it off I’m giving you the facts about fitness, and yes, they’re FUN……if you’re a fitness nerd like me. C’mon, don’t be shy.

1. If you had every single muscle in your body work together at the same time, you could lift about 50,000 pounds.

2. If you are not a regular exerciser, by the time you are 65 you may experience as much as an 80% decrease in your muscle strength.

3. Bodies are creatures of habit. The more you exercise, the more your body learns to burn fat rather than storing it.

4. No wonder your feet hurt - running puts four to seven times your body weight in pressure on your feet.

5. Regular exercise is linked to better sex, because it can improve body image, energy, self-esteem and overall fitness.

6. Dancing is a terrific and fun form of exercise that can improve cardiovascular fitness just like any other more formal type of exercise.

7. If you're always in a bad mood, then getting fit just may help. Regular exercise can enhance mood and overall well-being.

8. The top three factors that determine whether or not you will stick to your exercise routine include: having support, finding a workout that you like and knowing what you're doing. Your recipe for fitness success just may be working out with a buddy doing something you love.

9. If inactive people surround you, chances are that you will be inactive, too. Choose those closest to you wisely.

10. In spite of what you may have read, there is no "best time to exercise." It turns out that the best time to exercise is when it works for you.

11. Being dehydrated reduces exercise performance. Make sure you hydrate for peak performance during a workout.

12. Visualization can help to improve your workout. By visualizing yourself completing the exercise before you actually perform it, then you will be able to perform the exercise with more intensity and effectiveness.

13. People who cross-train with a variety of exercise are more fit and less injury-prone than those who exercise using only one or two modes of exercise.

  1. Cutting white bread, sugars, fast food, any sort of take out, etc -

and replacing it with protein, water, and chicken/lean beef you cook at home -

can help drop anywhere from 3-10 pounds of water
weight and help you appear more toned/fit.

Also a pre-workout like NOXplode, coffee, Jack3d, anything that gets you up and going helps keep you off the couch and in the gym is a great tool. (just make sure you follow dosage!)

  2. What do you mean by cross-training? What is considered 1-2 modes of exercise?

    1. Cross training in the context of this article just refers to training in several different ways, for example: running, cycling, and swimming are three different modes of exercise. If you used them all in your routine that would be cross-training. Hope that helps!
