Don’t let anybody tell you that you need lots of fancy equipment or a personal trainer to get the body of your dreams. All you really need is your own body weight, a bit of space and maybe a few fitness accessories. However, because most people don’t have the time to craft their own shape-up plans, workout DVDs can be an indispensable asset to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Great workout DVDs can also save you a bundle compared to a gym membership.

Workout DVDs can be beneficial in more ways than one. If you’re new to physical activity, they’ll help you get started so that by the time you’re ready for the gym, you’ll be more confident about your abilities. Even if you’re a gym rat, a solid fitness DVD can help you switch things up so you can keep surprising your body to keep that training edge. In either case, if a video inspires you to push your body further, it’s money well spent.

To help you get one step closer to your ideal physique, I’ve put together a list of at-home workout DVDs with something for everyone. So, read on for my top workout DVDs that will help you achieve your best body ever.

Swiss Ball Abs: Adam Ford
You’ll need a stability ball for this DVD that zeros in on a specific muscle group of interest to men: the abs. Using three 20-minute workouts to target your mid-section from all directions, a few weeks with this DVD will enhance definition in your upper and lower abs as well as your obliques, all while improving your balance and coordination.

Strength Building Yoga: Rodney Yee
Yoga virgins should steer clear of this video. However, if you’ve been practicing yoga regularly for a year or so, but you can’t make it to a studio as often as you'd like, give this DVD a go. The 65-minute session starts out gently with sun salutations and basic poses, but it becomes progressively more difficult and strenuous. Benefits of incorporating a yoga practice into your workout schedule include gaining flexibility and stamina, developing a strong core and an increase in focusing abilities.

Pilates for Men: Lindsey Jackson
First off, if you’re a newbie when it comes to moving your body, please don’t think that a bit of Pilates will get you a rock-solid body. What it will do, however, is develop an incredibly strong, stable core and improve back strength. Guys who already exercise and are serious about honing their bodies will find this DVD useful for improving their performance in other sports and activities, as well as increasing their sexual stamina. Also, whether you’ve been exercising for 10 days or 10 years, strengthening your core will improve your posture and help prevent sports-related injuries.

Men's Health: 15-Minute Workout
Guys who want maximum results, but have minimum time, should check out this offering from Men’s Health. As a publication specializing in all things fitness-related for men, these guys have a solid background in what exercises work. Four separate 15-minute workouts are geared toward total body muscle training, fat burning, toning your midsection, and strengthening your lower body. Go through all four workouts in one session when you have the chance or simply squeeze in 15 minutes as often as possible when your schedule is packed.
